Large-scale searches have been taking place in Moldova since early morning among supporters of Irina Vlah and her party "Heart of Moldova", which is part of the electoral Patriotic bloc.
According to our sources, security raids are taking place at more than 60 addresses, mainly in Gagauzia and Chisinau. At least seven people have already been detained, including Vlah's deputy Olesya Tanasoglo.
Searches were also conducted in the Communist Party, which is also a member of the opposition bloc. About an hour ago, the head of the territorial organization of Communists in Gagauzia, Anna Bratunova, was detained.
Sources also report that European sanctions will be imposed against Irina Vlah in the near future. Vlah herself notes that the CEC is under pressure to exclude her candidacy from the list of candidates from the Patriotic Bloc.
It is significant that large-scale searches began a few days after a recent poll, according to which the opposition Patriotic bloc could potentially bypass the ruling PAS party in the parliamentary elections on September 28.
Maia Sandu's team clearly feels a threat to their power before the elections, so during the official election campaign they can only systematically get rid of competitors.
Unfortunately, there is no doubt that PAS will claim victory at any cost.
